Namaste :-)

It is so amazing here in Jaipur, I feel like I am in a place that only existed in my imagination. Today when we climbed up to the Naranagath Hill Fort and looked back at the blue and pink tones of the sprawling city, my heart was filled with elation. We listened to the sound of the city, it reminded me of a school playground merged with the noise of traffic and as I abosrbed the view scanning the distant hills, the call to prayer began and drowned out many of the other noises. It was exotic and inspiring, the sound of the loudspeakers echoing around the valley added to the atmosphere. We saw our first monkeys too, albeit from a distance, neither of us are familiar with the code of conduct around monkeys and as tempting as it was to get a closer look we erred on the side of caution. I thought of Mowgli from the Jungle Book and childhood memories were recalled. From the view we could also see the hundreds of little various coloured diamond shaped paper kites that fly over the city, they are let out on a thin thread from large reels held by children and they are sent high into the sky to dance well above the rooftops.

I feel relaxed in Jaipur and despite its size, it never feels too overwhelming. The streets are amazing, people are friendly and rickshaw drivers will take a straight no for an answer.

Until next time, I am off to sate myself in memories of the day.
